Time for a Directory Authority outside US/EU

by phobos | July 11, 2009

I'm researching where to host one or two Directory Authorities outside
the US and EU.

It's been suggested to me that Argentina, South Africa, Panama,
Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan are fine locales for a well-connected,
dedicated server. I'm looking for a relatively low end dedicated server
that can transit 2-4 TB a month at relatively cheap prices (say
US$200/mo or less).

If you have experience and contacts at various providers, I'm all ears.

Thanks!

hello Phobos

In swiss we have not a lot of good hosting, i wait for my own to have big capacity.

But my private have 25 MB down and 2.5 MB up, at end of the years we will have normaly some offers in 100 MB.

Well when i hear of a good, i will tell you.

The advantage by us are the respect of privacy many more as others country and have no log by ISP.

my best

You can have excellent hosting in Switzerland with big backbones. The one I mentioned has a huge number of peerings (see http://www.init7.net/peering.php). Don't worry, I am not a customer of this company or related otherwise, but I think they do a good job for reasonable money, although I can't afford it. Other respected hosting companies would be

Big advantage in Switzerland, low level of legislation (at least for directory services) and everybody speaks English.

sure we have a few , i just tell about good service and price...

That's very expensive for the service and server give , that's all.

That's why i wait end of year, we will have some offer and price down,

that's the reason why i rent out of swiss too but i am on legislation anyway of the swiss.

I hope you are right and the prices will go down in Switzerland by the end of the year.
