Parallel Society (Lisbon)

A two-day festival of sound, art, and ideas exploring independent culture and creative autonomy. Day 1 is an unconference to advance civic technology. Day 2 celebrates music, arts, and countercultures. Expect a high-energy convergence of hacktivism, practical tech, and parallel-society building. Make, break, prototype, and world-build with the people shaping what comes next.

Pawel Zoneff, Director, Strategic Comms, the Tor Project will host a workshop on Press Freedom, Privacy & Digital Rights. The session is designed to open a collaborative dialogue between media professionals and open-source technologists. Participants will share insights from their lived experience of newsrooms, explore barriers to adoption, and discuss how these challenges inform future tool design and usability improvements. The session also investigates how media, platforms, and FOSS communities can work together to address the growing narrative war. This session is designed to be accessible to all, regardless of technical background.

BornHack is a 7 day outdoor tent camp where hackers, makers and people with an interest in technology or security come together to celebrate technology, socialise, learn and have fun. BornHack 2025 will be the tenth BornHack. It will take place from Wednesday the 16th of July to Wednesday the 23rd of July 2025 at our venue on the Danish island of Funen.

Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2025, Oslo

Members of the Tor Project will host a workshop entitled "Truth Under Siege: Tools to Counter Digital Censorship"

The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) was established by the United Nations in 2005 as a forum for multi-stakeholder dialogue concerning public policy issues relating to the internet, involving such stakeholders as governments, the private sector, the technical and academic communities, and members of civil society. Its annual meeting brings together stakeholders from across the globe for about a week each year. The first day is devoted to a high-level meeting between ministerial representatives from various countries and the leaders of global companies.
